Artefakt

A magazine that invites you to examine your surroundings with the level of imagination and curiosity of an alien. In this first issue, we explore the topics of freedom through ordinary objects.

“It’s through visual poetry and anthropology; it’s through objects
that we can start to piece together the realities we live in.”

– Kotryna Rekasiute, Managing Director, Artefakt)

Your body – your intimate playground

Article no. 1: There’s something hidden behind the curtain of controversy. Move the curtain away if you are ready. The vellum paper has been used to imitate this barrier.

Safety pin

Article no. 2: “In the 70s, the safety pin symbolised many things, from rebellion to "finding new ways" to live; however, it has always been a symbol of solidarity.” - Karolina Michkova

Albatross

As the first issue is on freedom, to symbolize this, we are using Albatross. What is it like to be free? It’s beautiful, but can feel like a burden at times, being misunderstood and mistreated by society due to a unique perspective. When opening and unfolding the magazine cover, you can find the poster with a poem from Charles Baudelaire – The Flowers of Evil – Albatross.
